Across the country, rising property values have pushed taxpayers to the point of what The Atlantic calls the largest “tax rebellion” in a generation. That’s the case in Wyoming, where, come November, Prop 1 will ask voters to dramatically cut property taxes for residents: a 50% cut on the assessed value of a primary residence. A growing movement opposes these property tax reductions and asks voters to think of the cuts to local budgets for schools, firefighting, weed protection and other services without a replacement of funds.
