Jackson activist Rebecca Bextel is doubling down on her campaign for governor as the Constitution Party nominee.
She launched a new website and 100-day plan on Thursday, following the Republican nomination of Senator Eric Barlow for governor.
If elected, she pledged to prioritize “cutting bureaucracy, defending energy and agriculture, strengthening our schools, enforcing our laws, and restoring common sense and accountability to the Governor’s Office.”
Bextel made headlines for handing out checks in Cheyenne last winter’s state budget session, prompting an ongoing criminal inquiry. She has also been an outspoken critic of affordable housing programs in Teton County.
In a statement this week, the small business owner alleges that Barlow supports Medicaid expansion, wants to “remove our alliance on fossil fuels,” and has opposed banning sanctuary cities.
Barlow denied those claims in an interview with KHOL but said he continues to campaign around the state.
“There was quite a bit of negative campaigning in this primary cycle regarding my record, and most of it was either misleading or just flat-out false,” Barlow said.
The Gillette rancher set a fundraising record with $1.65 million in contributions that fueled his primary win over the Trump-endorsed Megan Degenfelder and Wyoming GOP-backed Brent Bien.
Bextel accused Barlow of not representing conservative values when she first announced her campaign in May, going so far as to call him a “radical Democratic candidate.”
In her revamped website, Bextel wrote that she has “raised money for President Trump because I believe in limited government, individual liberty, and personal responsibility.”
The general election is November 3.
