The month of February brought record-setting snowfall. Contributing to that snowfall was a massive storm cycle at the end of the month that blanketed the mountains with almost 50 inches of snow. The result was decreased snow stability and an increased avalanche risk. But not everyone heeded warnings from avalanche forecasters and public safety officials to stay out of the backcountry and avoid avalanche terrain.
