For those who grew up at sea level, mountain towns hold a certain mystique. Some people swear that being surrounding by nature, that constant reminder of our smallness, our humanity, drives their creativity. This could certainly be said of artist Haley Badenhop. Ten years ago, she said goodbye to her Ohio farm town and found her way to the mountains of Colorado, California and finally Wyoming. Though she had long nurtured her creativity, drawing and painting as a kid and later as a fashion design major, Badenhop says it was after her Western pilgrimage that a dream she set in motion long ago crystallized.

Badenhop’s new show, Minimal Drama, opens Friday at Center for the Arts.
