KHOL has claimed eight 2025 regional and national journalism awards, including a prestigious Regional Edward R. Murrow Award, five distinctions from the “Top of the Rockies” contest through the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) and two honors from the Public Media Journalists Association (PMJA).
These accolades reflect KHOL’s deep commitment to producing impactful reporting. At a time when public media and local journalism face funding cuts, we’re grateful for the support that makes this work possible.

More About the Awards:
The Edward R. Murrow Awards, presented by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA), are among the most prestigious honors in broadcast and digital news. Murrow-winning stories prioritize public interest, spark civic dialogue, and reflect the highest ethical standards in journalism.
The Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) aims to uphold the ethics and ideals of the profession, formally recognizing excellence in journalism through its Top of the Rockies contest. KHOL competes in Region 9 alongside outlets in Colorado, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Wyoming.
The Public Media Journalists Association (PMJA) supports over 1,800 journalists from 130+ local public radio newsrooms across the country. In this year’s contest—featuring over 1,450 entries—KHOL earned more awards than any other newsroom in its size tier.
