Councilwoman Jessica Sell Chambers, and Melissa Malm met for the first time for a One Small Step Conversation. Councilwoman Sell Chambers (age 43) has served on the Town Council for four years and is now running to be Jackson’s next mayor. She is a married mother raising a 10-year-old son and has been a Jackson resident for 15 years. Melissa Malm (age 69) has resided in Teton County for nearly five decades, pioneered Jackson Hole Ski Patrol as its first female patroller, and also raised a son in the valley. The two share their perspectives on how women lead in and navigate being in a “man’s world”.
This conversation was recorded for KHOL’s One Small Step Program – a StoryCorps initiative that brings people with different beliefs into the recording studio to talk and discover their common ground. For election season, KHOL paired candidates running for local office with the constituents they aim to represent. These conversations cover the *who and the *why behind our political and religious beliefs and, in just an hour, seek to find some common ground.
Listen above to an excerpt of their conversation in KHOL’s podcast “Jackson Unpacked” or hear their full conversation here.
Conversations will be archived at the Library of Congress.
