Energetic music bumps through the walls of the Center for the Arts where, inside, community members are learning the Latin dance Bachata in a clinic presented by Dancers’ Workshop and Strictly Salsa Y Bachata.

Instructors Tayler Stinnett and Luis Aristimuño are visiting Jackson for the first time from their dance studio, Sensual Movement, in New York.

And they’ve been busy with daily Bachata workshops for beginner and intermediate dancers this week. According to them, Bachata is all about building community.

“It brings people together. When you learn how to dance, you learn other type of skills, like to be confident and to be patient,” says Aristimuño.

The wider Jackson Hole community is invited to dance with them tonight [this Friday, March 21] at Latin Dance Night at the Center for the Arts – curious beginners and seasoned dancers welcome.

“That’s what’s so wonderful about this style of dance – it is welcoming to the beginner. There’s no ceiling in Bachata,” says Stinnett.

The party, co-hosted by Dancers’ Workshop, Strictly Salsa and the Center, starts at 8 PM with a short intro to the Latin dance for those new to Bachata.
