It was in a pile of stuff owned by his mom that Grant Gallaher saw treasures: sweaters, hats, jewelry. She wanted to get rid of it in the effort to downsize after becoming an empty nester.
“I said, ‘No, you are not. I’m going to give those some new life.’”
The next year, Gallaher organized the first Spring Fling Fashion Thing 3 runway show in the Center for the Arts. A crew of makeup artists, DJs, models, designers and lighting return for a third year in the same spot on May 2. Co-sponsored by the Center for the Arts and Jackson Hole Pride, the 2026 fashion show will be its biggest year yet. New this time around, the ephemeral looks will be preserved in a zine with some behind-the-scenes sketches and inspiration.

The show takes inspiration from the underground New York City 1980s ballroom club scene and the history of queer fashion where booming music is the backbone for choreographed and freeform dancing, Gallaher said. With an upcycle attitude, this year’s 17 designers range from fashion professionals to those with no sewing experience.
“My mind is blown pretty much every day by the creativity of what people are coming up with,” Gallaher said.
The first of two showings starts at 7 p.m. in the Center for the Arts lobby on Saturday. The event is free but ticketed with donations suggested. All ages are welcome, though the first show has more age-appropriate music.
