We spoke with Kevin Krasnow, Faculty and Research Specialist at the Teton Science Schools, about a talk he gave titled “Douglas Fir: Fire History and Dynamics in Jackson Hole.” His research delves into the accuracy of historical records of fire, how trees hold scarring and evidence of fire, the importance of Douglas Fir to our ecosystems, and how they might act to buffer the effects of increased wildfires due to rising temperatures. He spoke as part of the monthly meeting hosted by the Teton Chapter of the Wyoming Native Plant Society at the Teton County Library.
