County Commissioner Natalia Macker met Amy Renova, Teton County School Board candidate for a One Small Step conversation. Macker (age 40), has served on the Board of County Commissioners since 2015 and is running for another four-year term. She is also the executive director of the non-profit, Off Square Theater and is a married mother of three boys under age 10. Renova (age 38) enters the political arena for the first time to run for school board. Two of her children graduated from the school system and one is still enrolled. Renova works for the Town as an administrator in the Office of Public Works. She is a second-generation Mexican American whose parents emigrated to Jackson in the 1970s.

This conversation was recorded for KHOL’s One Small Step Program, a StoryCorps initiative that brings people with different beliefs into the recording studio to talk and discover their common ground. For election season, KHOL paired candidates running for local office with the constituents they aim to represent. These conversations cover the who and the why behind our political and religious beliefs and, in just an hour, seek to find some common ground.
Conversations will be archived at the Library of Congress.
