National Geographic photographer Ronan Donovan spent a year capturing the incredible wildlife of Yellowstone National Park for their issue dedicated entirely to its grandeur. We talked with him about the intersection of photography/film and science as well as how you go about setting up cameras to get realistic imagery of the animals. We also spoke with Caroline Byrd, the executive director of the Greater Yellowstone Coalition about their mission to preserve the ecosystem. They spoke as part of the series called “Our Public Wild Lands” sponsored by many local conservation organizations.
