What are the biggest issues of the last decade? Ask a resident of the American West and you’ll likely hear two words: public lands. What is happening on these lands and the people endangering their future are laid bare in Christopher Ketcham’s recent book This Land – How Cowboys, Capitalism, and Corruption are Ruining the American West.

The investigative journalist has been reporting on the American West for more than a decade. And his intimate knowledge of the terrain emerges in his evocative prose. The book is also an in-depth investigation and a rallying cry to protect wild places.

KHOL called Ketcham at his home in the Catskill Mountains of New York to discuss the forces at play that threaten the West.
