The first chair of the season is this Friday at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Lifts start loading at 9 a.m.

Apres Vous, Teewinot and Sweetwater Gondola, serving moderate runs, will be open for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

The mountain is getting some help from this week’s recent snow, though snowmaking is still underway for a third of the mountain.

“Both Warner and Moran are going to be open from the top of Apres Vous, so it’ll be lots of different skiing. We’ve also been able to make enough snow to make sure that those runs are nice and wide,” Andrew Way, a spokesperson for the mountain, said.

After a foot of snow dropped on the summit Tuesday, mid-mountain has 21 inches and the summit has 28.

Way said “the stoke level is high” up at the mountain, with a new high-speed four-person chairlift and two restaurants at the base of the tram making debuts later this season.

A celebratory ceremony for the new Sublette Chair is planned for Dec. 20, though if the snow keeps up, it could open earlier.

The second annual “ski in jeans” day will take place a week from Saturday on Dec. 7.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is one of three ski resorts in Teton County, Wyoming. Grand Targhee, accessed via Idaho, opened last weekend and in downtown Jackson, Snow King is set to open in a week.
