Visual artists of all manners are magnetized to Jackson. But when it comes to the area’s deep pool of talented photographers and filmmakers, for example, there is a missing link. That is, there are few opportunities to connect many of those seasoned photographers and filmmakers with burgeoning young ones. The Center of Wonder is hoping to change that with the Wonder Institute. It offers free programming to young people and adults. Center of Wonder’s JuliAnne Thomas and Ouree Lee explained more. First, Thomas described the project’s impetus. Center of Wonder saw two voids, she says: the need to connect creative mentors with mentees and more places for young people to go after school.
