In 2018, the Woolsey Fire in Southern California tore through the coast and became one of the most destructive fires in Los Angeles County history. Thousands of structures were destroyed and three people died.
Wildfires have become commonplace in California and across the United States in recent years.
Wyoming’s Teton County is no stranger to the threat of wildfires. The forest service has found the region is one of the most at risk for wildfires in Wyoming. The season typically runs roughly June through September.
Efforts are currently underway to help educate homeowners about their risks and create a new Teton County wildfire mitigation plan.
