Phil Mollenkof and his wife, Allie, are co-founders of the inaugural Wydaho Adventure Film Festival coming up in Victor on Aug. 20. Phil Mollenkof recently joined station film critic Jeff Counts in the KHOL studios to discuss the new community event.
“We really want to kind of bridge the gap between, like, stoke adventure films but also films that really make you think, and that really sort of encourage you to, what we would say, live your own best story or give back to your community,” Mollenkof said, “so, we were pretty selective on films.”
“I think sometimes we’re in a bit of a recreation bubble here and that we think some of the only issues in the world just have to do with nature and ecology and conservation, which they’re for sure important issues in our backyard, but I’m also interested in issues that deal with people, whether it’s mental health or poverty or gentrification or things that are happening in the rest of the world.”
