Jackson band Freda Felcher is the brainchild of composer/multi-instrumentalist Leif Routman and composer/vocalist Hilary Camino. They weave soul, funk and jazz into their heartfelt original songs. Their latest single “Defeats” grabs you from the first notes. It’s an auditory adventure with reflective, inquiring lyrics, uplifting horns and a full band breakdown with an emotive, distorted guitar solo. It also hits on some serious themes such as racism and xenophobia.

Routman took us behind the track.
