Last week, Teton Media Works, the company that owns the Jackson Hole News&Guide, announced it bought the digital media outlet Buckrail. This move has worried some folks who point to the ills of media consolidation. Will the move result in a slimmer range of perspectives within the local public sphere?
According to Teton Media Works president and publisher, Kevin Olson, Buckrail will maintain its “scrappy startup” sensibilities. Olson said that means it will keep its independence even as a member of the same subsidiary that owns the valley’s only newspaper.
In an interview with KHOL News, Olson discussed why Teton Media Works bought Buckrail and what’s next for the digital media outlet.
